Fjern Grenser Softshell Jacket

If you had to choose one word to describe the Grenser it would be ‘solid’. At 620g it’s a hefty-feeling jacket that’s cut long in the body and sleeves. The fabric’s a closely-woven, non-membrane stretch Polyester that gives decent wind resistance and breathability. The stretch in the fabric means it’s unrestrictive and the hood works fine with or without a helmet. Plenty of pockets too and all-round adjustability. One quirk is that the hand pocket design means there’s a triple layer of fabric over the lower front of the jacket, a mesh bag would add venting and cut some weight too. It’s amazing value and gives good weather protection and comfort in anything up to medium showers. One niggle was a tendency for the hem to ride up when walking, but that may be body proportion dependent.

Bargain all-round mountain softshell that’s a tad weighty, but works capably in most conditions.
