Filson Neoshell Reliance Jacket

Whenever I normally head into town with my wife on a rainy day, I can always sense her embarrassment as, more often than not, I’ll be in a bright orange or hi-viz yellow waterproof. She was pleasantly surprised by the Filson and even complimented it as having a “certain Liam Gallagher cool vibe”. From my perspective, the 3-layer fabric, for a waterproof laminate, is soft and pleasant to the touch with no hint of a crinkly crisp packet. With fully taped seams and baffled zips, it’s genuinely waterproof but, with pit zips, it breathes and ventilates well. The adjustable hood stows away well and velcro wrist tabs allow you to seal warmth in and water out. Along with daily dog walking duties – plenty of pockets for poo bags and forays into town, I’ve done some bigger hikes in it too and it’s more than capable as a full-on hillwalking jacket.

A technical waterproof that performs on the streets and on the trails.
