Montane Minimus Pant
Waterproof trousers don’t come much lighter than this, around half the weight of the Rab or Berghaus trousers, with a pack size of an average, er, mango. They’re made from lightweight Pertex waterproof fabric, have quarter-length side-zips for ease of donning, adjustable calves plus an adjustable elasticated waist. Joyously you can stick them in a day-sac or bum-bag and barely know they’re there until needed, making them brilliant for runners and fast ’n’ light walkers. Fit is very slim, so they’re best worn over tights or running shorts, anything bulkier is problematic. They go on over shoes, mostly, but not boots. Feel next to skin is a little slick, but they do the important basics of keeping your legs dry and not flapping about, though they can get a little sweaty if you’re working hard and the lightweight fabric means they’re best for semi-emergency rather than regular use.
Feathery light, semi-emergency, figure-hugging, day-savers for fast and lighters
